Domestic violence is a kind of behavior a person uses to maintain power and control over another person. It can happen in families or in close or intimate relationships. What kind of relationships can involve domestic violence?

Domestic violence can happen in any kind of relationship. It can take place between spouses, LGBTQ+ partners, partners who aren’t married, family members, siblings, parents and an adult son or daughter, and elderly parents. What does a healthy relationship look like?

Love, trust, and mutual respect are the basis of a healthy relationship. In a healthy relationship, your partner makes you happy, there is open communication, you can agree on things, and you can be yourself without being afraid. If you don’t feel safe in your relationship, then it’s not healthy and you deserve help
